Our founder
Rooted in one family’s knowledge
Frank D’Amelio Sr. founded Bio-Botanica in 1972 with his wife Josephine, inspired by his grandmother’s herbal traditions. They started in a garage-sized space, hand-filling bottles — and built direct relationships with herb growers across the country.
In 1973 he developed the Bio-Chelated® cold-extraction process to preserve each plant’s naturally occurring constituents in their natural ratios. More than fifty years later, that process still defines how we make every extract.

Our proprietary Bio-Chelated® cold-extraction process uses low heat to preserve the naturally occurring constituents of each botanical in their natural ratios — what we call a Holistically Balanced® extract. It’s the difference between a commodity extract and one that reflects the whole plant.
