About this extract

What Is Suprapein®?

Suprapein® is a patented, alcohol-free preservative system developed by Bio-Botanica for natural personal-care and cosmetic formulations. It is a proprietary blend of botanical extracts and essential oils traditionally used for their ability to support product integrity and resist microbial growth in topical applications, supplied as a liquid under Part ID 8570.

What's in the Blend

Suprapein® combines thymol; Mentha piperita (peppermint) oil; Origanum vulgare (oregano) leaf oil; Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil; Lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil; Cinnamomum zeylanicum (cinnamon) bark oil; Citrus limon (lemon) peel oil; Hydrastis canadensis (goldenseal) extract; and Olea europaea (olive) leaf extract. Crafted through the proprietary Bio-Chelated® cold-extraction method, it offers a clean-label option with no synthetic additives or preservatives.

Formulation Applications

Suprapein® is suitable for lotions, creams, shampoos, conditioners, soaps and comparable topical products. It is primarily soluble in oils and non-polar systems and performs in the 20–30°C (68–80°F) range, which makes the point of addition and the phase it is added to worth planning deliberately. Because preservative efficacy is a property of the finished formula rather than of any single input, challenge testing of your own completed product is essential; we recommend evaluating a sample at several use levels early. The traditional uses described are not validated in multiple, well-controlled clinical studies, and this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Why Formulators Choose Bio-Botanica

Family-owned since 1972, Bio-Botanica manufactures Suprapein® at its FDA-inspected cGMP facility in Hauppauge, New York using the proprietary Bio-Chelated® low-heat method. Every lot passes identity, microbial and heavy-metal testing in our onsite quality lab, supported by third-party laboratories. Suprapein® is also available through our private-label and contract-manufacturing programme.

Common Buyer Questions

What is Suprapein®?

Suprapein® is Bio-Botanica's patented, alcohol-free preservative system for natural personal-care and cosmetic formulations — a proprietary blend of botanical extracts and essential oils, supplied as a liquid under Part ID 8570.

What is in it?

Thymol, Mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, Origanum vulgare leaf oil, Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil, Lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, Cinnamomum zeylanicum bark oil, Citrus limon (lemon) peel oil, Hydrastis canadensis extract and Olea europaea (olive) leaf extract. Plant parts used are leaf, bark, peel and root.

What products is it used in?

Lotions, creams, shampoos, conditioners, soaps and comparable topical personal-care and cosmetic products. It is a topical ingredient.

How does it behave for solubility and temperature?

Suprapein® is primarily soluble in oils and non-polar systems and performs in the 20–30°C (68–80°F) range. Plan the phase and point of addition accordingly, and confirm behaviour in your own base. It is an amber-yellow liquid with a characteristic aromatic odour contributed by the essential oils, which should be accounted for in the fragrance brief.

Does it contain alcohol or synthetic preservatives?

No. Suprapein® is alcohol-free and contains no synthetic additives or preservatives, which is what makes it usable on a clean-label deck.

Will Suprapein® preserve my formulation?

Preservative efficacy is a property of the finished formula, not of any single ingredient — water activity, pH, packaging and the rest of the ingredient deck all bear on it. Suprapein® should be evaluated at several use levels and validated by challenge testing of your own completed product before it is relied upon.

How is it sold, and what about samples and MOQ?

Suprapein® is sold in bulk to formulators and brands, not as a finished consumer product, in pack sizes of 5 kg and 190 kg. Pricing is provided by formal quote against your chosen pack size and volume. Samples ship with a Spec Sheet/TDS, a representative Certificate of Analysis and a Safety Data Sheet.

How is it manufactured and tested?

Suprapein® is manufactured at Bio-Botanica's FDA-inspected cGMP facility in Hauppauge, New York using the proprietary Bio-Chelated® cold-extraction method. Testing runs from raw-material intake through finished product in our onsite quality lab using HPLC, GC/MS, LC/MS and ICP/MS, covering identity, microbial and heavy-metal testing, supported by third-party laboratories.

What certifications are available?

Bio-Botanica operates under NSF, cGMP and FSSC 22000 quality systems. Our Hauppauge, New York facility is FDA-inspected; certification specific to your order can be confirmed with our team.
